Aberlour 16 year old
Aberlour 16 year old is a double matured single malt from Speyside. The whisky spent a few years in ex-bourbon casks prior to being aged further in sherry casks. It has a sweet and delicate palate with subtle spice.
Aberlour distillery in Speyside was officially founded in 1879. A former distillery worker at nearby Dailuaine distillery, James Fleming, was the person who started it. The distillery changed hands just a couple of times in 1921 and 1945. It got rid of its floor maltings in 1962. It wasn't until 1975 that the distillery was acquired by its current owners the Pernod Ricard group. It has earned numerous awards for its great releases and currently produces 3 and a half million liters of alcohol per year.
