Spey Chairman's Choice 70cl
The Spey Chairman's Choice single malt is created with a mix of bourbon and sherry bottles. The Chairman's Choice release was inspired by the tradition of the chairman of the distillery choosing the best casks to have on Christmas day with his family. On the palate it is sweet, smooth, and buttery with vanilla, pears, and fresh toffee with a lingering finish.
The Speyside Distillery
The Speyside distillery was built and founded by George Christie in 1962 although the distillery would not be complete till 1987 and the whisky production would not start until 1990. The two pot stills that were installed at the distillery were not the largest in the industry, they are among the smallest stills in the industry. The focus of the company is on quality rather than quantity. The mash tun that they use was the very last one built by Newmill engineering company before it closed. The Speyside distillery is the most southern Speyside distillery and takes its water from the river Tromie. The Speyside distillery has had a number of malts under other names such as the Glentromie and C‡È¤ Dhub malts. The C‡È¤ Dhub is still being produced by them. The distillery is now owned by Harvey's of Edinburgh and it sold largely in Taiwan.
