Five of the hottest new spirits to try in 2017: Experienced spirits drinkers usually have a go-to tipple and although it’s great to have a reliable spirit to fall back on, variety is, as they say, the spice of life.

Here at Jeffrey Street we’re always looking to try something new so we’ve put together a list of some great new spirits to try in 2017.

NEW SPIRITS TO TRY IN 2017: MILTONDUFF 1995 JEFFREY STREET BOTTLING

Miltonduff 1995

This single malt is definitely a hidden gem and has been bottled exclusively for Jeffrey Street. It’s been described by Charles Maclean, one of Scotland’s leading whisky experts, as retaining lots of character from the spirit and having well balanced notes of vanilla, citrus and white fruits.

The Speyside whisky is bottled as cask strength but is super smooth and silky.

BERRY BROTHERS AND RUDD GLEN GARIOCH 24-YEAR-OLD

This Highland malt is rich and creamy with a trace of peat smoke and hints of citrus fruit. Distilled at Glen Garioch and bottled this year by Berry Brothers and Rudd, the whisky is unchill-filtered and no colouring has been added, making for an outstanding single malt.

STRATHEARN OAK GIN

This gin is a true show of innovation with the spirit being aged in an oak barrel, which adds a sweet vanilla flavour to the drink.

Strathearn Distillery is one of Scotland’s newest gin producers and also one of the smallest using just two stills, 500 litres and 1000 litres respectively. With this in mind, you can be sure that this fantastic gin is made in small batches with the finest craftmanship.

GLENROTHES 2006 SINGLE CASK (5454)

This cask strength whisky (coming in at 67.2 per cent ABV) is also bottled by wine merchants Berry Brothers and Rudd. As with the rest of their products, this is a specialty whisky with only 636 bottles produced.

The Speyside malt is part of the Glenrothes range with the distillery choosing to release ‘vintages’ rather than releases with age statement. This 2006 vintage is matured in a sherry butt cask giving the whisky a rich and complex palate.

WILLIAM CHASE GIN

From the makers of Chase Vodka comes this seriously good gin, which uses cider apples to make the base spirit. The spirit is then infused with botanicals to create a clean and crisp gin with notes of angelica root and coriander.

The delicate palate of this gin makes it perfect to use in gin Martinis, with an apple garnish bringing more of the base flavour out of the spirit.
