Aberfeldy 18 year old Cote-Rotie Cask Finish
This is the Aberfeldy 18 year old finished in Cote-Rotie Casks. Experience the tantalizing complexity of this superb Highland Scotch whisky. On the palate, expressive red berry notes dance alongside layers of honey, candied citrus, and a satisfying finish of vanilla and butterscotch flavors that will leave you wanting more. This is a very limited release and once it's gone, it will be gone forever!
Aberfeldy distillery was opened in 1898 by the John Dewar and Sons company. It remained operational until 1917 when barley shortages forced it to close down. It reopened in 1919 and produced whisky intended for blends until the Second World War broke out.
During the war the distillery remained shut. After the war concluded and barley shortages were over, the demand for Aberfeldy whisky caused stock shortages. The whisky was laid for just 3 years as opposed to the usual 7 years.
Not much happened at the distillery for a couple of decades until 1972 when it was enlarged and four steam-heated stills were installed. Production continued and in 1999 a 12 year old single malt was released. A year later, a visitor centre was opened to the public.
To this day, Aberfeldy single malt whisky is the main component of the Dewar's blended Scotch.
