Aberfeldy Connoisseurs Choice 1993

The Aberfeldy 1993 a whisky that has the finest Sherry finishing that we have come across. Full of honey, dark chocolate, burnt sugar and nutmeg on the nose. The palate has a fantastic Christmas cake like taste marzipan and sultanas.

Aberfeldy distillery

Aberfeldy distillery was opened in 1898 by the John Dewar and Sons company. It remained operational until 1917 when barley shortages forced it to close down. It reopened in 1919 and produced whisky intended for blends until the Second World War broke out.

During the war the distillery remained shut. After the war concluded and barley shortages were over, the demand for Aberfeldy whisky caused stock shortages. The whisky was laid for just 3 years as opposed to the usual 7 years.

Not much happened at the distillery for a couple of decades until 1972 when it was enlarged and four steam-heated stills were installed. Production continued and in 1999 a 12 year old single malt was released. A year later, a visitor centre was opened to the public.

To this day, Aberfeldy single malt whisky is the main component of the Dewar's blended Scotch.
