It was built in 1995 and it was the first distillery to be built in the island in over a century. The decision to build the distillery in the island's north was taken as there was a reliable water source and lots of potential for tourism.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe distillery started selling casks of its whisky to private investors to raise some cash. In 1998 the first official bottling was released. Eventually a peated expression was also released. In 2017 production capacity was increased and the visitor centre was upgraded.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe style of the spirit is delicate, cereal driven with citrus flavours.
