Benromach 10 year old
This is a miniature bottle of Benromach 10 year old whisky. This superb whisky has a complexity that few single malts this young offer. It has been matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks for 9 long years. It was then finished in Sherry casks for another year. A really tasty whisky.
Benromach distillery profile
Benromach distillery was founded in 1898 right when the Pattison crisis unfolded. It closed down and re-opened several time s until the late 1930s. Back then it became the first ever distillery to use oil firing under the stills. It operated until 1983 when it was closed down and the mothballed distillery was sold to United Distillers in 1986. It wasn't until 1992 that the distillery was acquired by independent bottlers and spirits wholesalers Gordon and Macphail. Six long years after the acquisition of the distillery, it started to produce spirit. The first release of single malt produced under Gordon and Macphail was released in 2004 under the name: Benromach Traditional. Gordon and Macphail announced in 2013 that the distillery would be increasing its production capacity due to increase demand. Success all around for this Speyside distillery based in Forres, Morayshire.
Gordon and Macphail independent bottlers
Founded in Elgin in 1895 as a 'family grocers, tea, wine and spirits merchants'. Today the company is still family managed and has a legendary status among independent bottlers. It could even be said that Gordon and Macphail started the independent bottlings trade in the mid 1960s. When they released casks of single malt whisky from various distilleries, many of those distilleries didn't even have an official single malt release. Gordon and Macphail has its very own whisky distillery: Benromach in Forres, Morayshire.
