This delicious Glenallachie was aged for 14 long years. For the final 9 months of its maturation, it was put into a sherry octave for extra depth and complexity. Expect no less than candied fruit, dried fruit, mulled wine spice and cinnamon. There are very few bottles available!
Duncan Taylor
Duncan Taylor has its origins in Glasgow where the company was initially a merchant and broker of Scotch whisky casks within the Industry.
Devotion to the principle of providing only the finest casks to be filled at Scotland’s leading distilleries has been a key feature of the company’s history.
Duncan Taylor has been laying down casks from premium Scottish distilleries for decades and now owns one of the largest privately held collections of vintage and rare scotch whisky casks.
In 2002 Duncan Taylor moved its headquarters to Huntly, on the periphery of Speyside, Scotland’s largest whisky producing region, where it has its own facilities for cask storage, bottling, a cooperage and very soon, its own distillery.
At that time, Duncan Taylor ceased the “brokering” of whisky casks to distillery companies and bottlers to focus on the production and marketing of its own brands, and diversifying the portfolio with the addition of gin and rum.
Glenallachie distillery
Glenallachie distillery was built in 1967 by Mackinlays, a subsidiary of Scottish and Newcastle breweries. Mackinlays saw the need to build a distillery given the demand for Scotch whisky from the American market. During the difficult 1980's Invergordon distillers acquired Mackinlays. They didn't hold it for long, four years after they took over, they sold the mothballed distillery to a subsidiary of Pernod-Ricard: Campbell Distillers.
The whisky from this distillery is rarely seen as as a single malt. Independent bottlings are few. In 2017 Glenallachie was sold to legendary distiller Billy Walker. A new range of single malts was launched in 2018.
