Kilchoman Machir Bay
Kilchoman Machir Bay is a whisky named after what is often considered the most beautiful beach on Islay. In this case the Kilchoman Machir Bay 20cl is a small version of the flag ship release of whisky from Kilchoman. A subtle whisky with a heart of Peat. Warmed vanilla sugar, a light tobacco smoke and butterscotch all rounded up with a surprising amount of fruit compote.
Kilchoman distillery was the first distillery to be built in over 100 years in Islay. When it was built it was the smallest distillery in Scotland. Few distilleries in Scotland can claim to do everything on site. Kilchoman is one of those few distilleries. The barley grows nearby at the Rockside farm and it is malted at the distillery's malting floor. This distillery released its first whisky in 2009 it was very well received by whisky enthusiasts and connoisseurs. This distillery uses mainly, ex-bourbon casks from the Buffalo trace distillery. Its core range received top prices at the International Wine and Spirits Competition 2015.
