The Media Luna is an entirely new size within the Habanos portfolio and referred to as a Marinas in the factories of Cuba. The name Media Luna translates to “Half Moon” in English, but is also the name of a small town in Cuba. Complete with a signature pigtail, the cigars are presented in SBN boxes of 12 cigars and are the perfect way to see out this iconic brand’s 50th anniversary year.
Trinidad are named after the beautiful 16th century city of La Santisima Trinidad, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The brand of cigars dates back to 1969 but for many years, like Cohiba it was made only as a gift to foreign diplomats. Not untill 1998 it was released for sale to the world at large in small quantities.
At the start there was only one size: Fundadores and in 2003 three more sizes (Reyes, Coloniales & Robusto extra) were added to the range. At the same time Trinidad's livery and its cigar brand were updated to recognized the prestige that the brand commanded. For years Trinidad were made in EL Laguito, the Cohiba Factory, where its uniquely fragrant and aromatic medium flavoured blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abjo region was developed. By the end of 2004 demand for Trinidad outstripped the production capacity at El Laguito and it was decided that the production should be moved to Pinar del Rio City.
