Oliva Melanio Gran Reserva Toro Grande
Each year Oliva produce a small quantity of very special cigars, specifically for the International Market. This time will be no different, and they are releasing only 3,000 boxes globally of Oliva Serie V Melanio Limitada Toro Grande 6 x 54.
Exclusive to the European market these cigars come presented round as opposed to box pressed. The result is a different flavour profile to other cigars in the Melanio range. The Ecuadorian Sumatra Wrapper gives an espresso creme, hazelnuty, coffee rich palate.
The Serie V Melanio is the flagship brand for Oliva, with the Figurado achieving the ultimate status of being awarded No1 cigar in the World in 2014 by the Cigar Aficionado. The normal Melanio is box pressed, however this Toro Grande Limitada will be round, giving it a unique and different smoke.
They will available towards the end of September, packed in 10’s with a classy presentation sleeve to protect the beautiful lacquered cigar box
Founder Melanio Oliva started growing tobacco in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, in 1886. In the 1920's his son Facundo Oliva took control of the company. In the 1960's Facundo Oliva swapped growing for brokering tobacco and continued to do so until his departure. Wanting to grow tobacco outside of Cuba with the intention of replicating the Cuban taste he settled in Nicaragua where he planted Cuban seed tobacco. Today the Oliva brand is the second largest cigar producer in Nicaragua. The brand was acquired in 2016 by Belgian cigar manufacturer J. Cortes and received a new lease of life as well as upgraded production facilities.
