Tomintoul 16 year old 35cl
This gentle, delicate and elegant single malt is the Tomintoul 16 year old. It was distilled at one of Scotland's highest distilleries and was aged in ex-bourbon casks.
This distillery was built in 1965 by a pair of whisky brokering firms from Glasgow. It was sold in 1973 to an investment firm who promptly released a 10 year old single malt. This latter group was then sold to Whyte & Mackay in 1990.
Just a year later, Whyte & Mackay was bought by American Brands. Under their ownership the whisky from Tomintoul was sold in a bottle that consumers often compared to aftershave bottles.
In 2000 the distillery was sold to the current owners, Angus Dundee. This company has expanded the official bottlings range.
