Tomintoul 21 year old 5cl
This lovely expression form Tomintoul Distillery was matured in ex Bourbon casks to bring out the vanilla-y notes from "the Gentle Dram".
- Nose: Soft And Creamy With Sweet Toffee Tones
- Palate: smooth, gentle and toffee-sweet with hint of butterscotch
- Finish: creamy, soft with some spicy tones
Tomintoul distillery
This distillery was built in 1965 by a pair of whisky brokering firms from Glasgow. It was sold in 1973 to an investment firm who promptly released a 10 year old single malt. This latter group was then sold to Whyte & Mackay in 1990.
Just a year later, Whyte & Mackay was bought by American Brands. Under their ownership the whisky from Tomintoul was sold in a bottle that consumers often compared to aftershave bottles.
In 2000 the distillery was sold to the current owners, Angus Dundee. This company has expanded the official bottlings range.
