Stauning Distillery is a truly unique place that was brought to life by nine friends (a doctor, a chef, a butcher, a teacher, a helicopter pilot and four engineers.

The founders of Stauning Whisky didn't have much when they started out in 2005. Least of all, any knowledge of whisky-making, but they shared passion, curiosity and the will to experiment and create. However, they had the land around them: The wind, the sea, the fields, the heather and the peat. And some of Denmark's finest water.

In 2018, Stauning opened up the doors to Denmark’s first purpose-built distillery. The clean, sharp angles nod to Danish aesthetics and architecture, while its burnt timber panelling and shape mirrors the fisherman's huts on the coast. Inside you will see a myriad of copper stills, sitting fat-bellied with curious peaked hats. There are total of 24 stills which make Stauning very different to any standard distillery of similar size. Most distilleries make do with four – or less, Stauning however is not quite like most other distilleries.
