Arran Distillery
Arran distillery is one of Scotland's newest. It was built in 1995 and it was the first distillery to be built in the island in over a century. The decision to build the distillery in the island's north was taken as there was a reliable water source and lots of potential for tourism.
The distillery started selling casks of its whisky to private investors to raise some cash. In 1998 the first official bottling was released. Eventually a peated expression was also released. In 2017 production capacity was increased and the visitor centre was upgraded.
The style of the spirit is delicate, cereal driven with citrus flavours. Wood management is rigorous.
