Benrinnes Port Finish Murray McDavid Cask Craft
The bold character of Benrinnes pairs perfectly with richly seasoned oak casks. The fruity Tawny port casks soften the spirit, resulting in a delightful dram filled with notes of fruity chocolate, floral malt, and a long, creamy finish.
Benrinnes Distillery
Benrinnes is a Speyside distillery located in Aberlour. The original distillery was founded in 1826 but was destroyed by a flood three years later. It was rebuilt at its current location and operated without major incidents. Like most distilleries in the 19th century, it went through various changes of ownership. When the distillery was damaged by a fire in 1896, it was refurbished and powered by electricity.
The distillery was again rebuilt in 1955 by John Dewar and Sons. Some eleven years later, the production capacity was doubled. In the 1970's the distillery adopted a unique triple distillation method. This distillation method was abandoned in 2007.
The flavours of Benrinnes derive from the distillery's usage of worm tubes to cool the neck of the stills, a short fermentation period of 60 hours and clear wort.
