Benromach Contrast: Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured 2014

Crafted in limited quantities and matured in premium first-fill Sherry hogshead casks, this exceptional whisky is meticulously produced through a meticulous process. The barley, deliberately malted with elevated levels of peat smoke at an impressive 57ppm, contributes to its distinctive character.

Indulge your senses with enticing notes of sweet vanilla and stewed fruit, seamlessly intertwined to create a captivating aroma. The palate unfolds a symphony of flavors, featuring bright citrus notes harmonizing with the luscious essence of summer berries. As the experience concludes, a crescendo of peat smoke and subtle hints of ginger leave a lasting impression, making each sip a journey through layers of complexity and refinement.

Benromach Distillery

Benromach distillery is located close to Forres in the Speyside region. It was founded in 1898 and produced its first batch of spirit in 1900. From there it went through numerous changes of ownership and intermittent periods of production. The distillery was modernised between 1966 and 1974. It continued producing whisky until 1983 when the distillery fell silent.

Ten years later, the distillery was acquired by its current owners, Gordon & Macphail. After running numerous trials the first batch of spirit under the new ownership was produced in 1998. The 10 year old single malt was awarded 'Best single malt 12 year and under' by the World Whisky Awards in 2014.

By using a fermentation period of between 3 and 5 days, cloudy wort, shell and tubes to cool the spirit and a reflux ball, the character of Benromach is robust and bold.
