Spey Distillery - Tenne Cask Strength (Port Cask)

Initially aged in bourbon casks, this bottling has been finished in the Tawny Port casks from the family run winery, Quinto de Filoco, for 6 months. A limited release of 1500 individually numbered bottles. Bottled at 59.5% (batch 1), non chill filtered and with no added colouring.

Tasting Note: Deep claret colour, almost opaque. On the nose, concentrated fruit notes along with jam & red wine are evident. Despite being bottled at cask strength, the texture is still light, with distinct sweet and fruity flavours in balance, and working well with the higher strength spirit.

Speyside distillery

Spey distillery is located in Kingussie very close to Inverness. It is the southern most distillery in the Speyside region. The distillery was built in 1962 by the owner of a nearby grain whisky distillery. Works on the site lasted until 1987. The first drops of spirit were distilled in 1990.

Two small stills were installed, they had to be cut down to size and were sourced from the now defunct Lochside distillery. The distillery has a production capacity of some 500 thousand liters of alcohol per year. The Speyside Distillery company is the current owner of Spey after they purchased it in 2013.

The owners of the distillery sell in in different markets under different names. It is the base whisky for Mongolia's best selling blended Scotch: Yoko
