Glenallachie 12 Year Old 70cl
12 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glenallachie. One of the first releases of Glenallachie from the new regime run by Billy Walker. This particular whisky is very sherry like in its nose full of dehydrated banana, almonds and Cola gummy bottles. The palate Ginger, Cinnamon and grain palate, the whisky has a certain chocolate finish that has a pleasant orange note.
Glenallachie distillery was built in 1967 by Mackinlays, a subsidiary of Scottish and Newcastle breweries. Mackinlays saw the need to build a distillery given the demand for Scotch whisky from the American market. During the difficult 1980's Invergordon distillers acquired Mackinlays. They didn't hold it for long, four years after they took over, they sold the mothballed distillery to a subsidiary of Pernod-Ricard: Campbell Distillers.
The whisky from this distillery is rarely seen as as a single malt. Independent bottlings are few. In 2017 Glenallachie was sold to legendary distiller Billy Walker. A new range of single malts was launched in 2018.
