Benriach 9 year old  Tokaj Wine Finish Murray McDavid Benchmark Range

Benriach Distillery, the renowned neighbours of the Coleburn whisky warehouses, produces a vibrant and fruity style of Speyside single malt. This exceptional spirit was filled into luxurious barriques that had previously been used to age one of the world’s oldest classified wines – Tokaji.

"Matured for its final three years in opulent, sweet wine barriques, this fruity Speyside single malt has beautifully integrated with the delicate flavours of the exotic Hungarian wine, delivering a sumptuous mouthfeel and a captivatingly intricate flavour – a true display of excellence in the Art of Maturation."

About the Distillery...

Benriach is a Speyside distillery located very close to Elgin. It was built by the same people who built nearby Longmorn distillery. Just two years after it was built the Pattison crisis happened and the distillery closed down. For 65 long years the distillery laid silent only with its maltings being used to supply the Longmorn distillery.

The distillery re opened in 1965 and produced spirit mostly for blends. After another couple of changes in ownership the distillery was acquired by the Benriach Distillery Company Limited. Under that ownership the whisky gained popularity among serious whisky drinkers. Benriach, Glenglassaugh and Glendronach distilleries were purchased by BrownForman in 2016.

The style of spirit produced at Benriach is predominantly fruity. Medium size pot stills and a short fermentation period contribute to it.
