Filey Bay Moscatel Finish - Spirit of Yorkshire
This field to bottle single malt was initially matured in 200L bourbon casks (filled in 2016), before being transferred to 250L Hogshead barrels from Spain that had held Moscatel for 10 years prior to this. The use of bourbon casks followed by Moscatel barrels to finish creates a really interesting flavourful whisky. Still light and soft like our previous releases but with an added depth, more layers of fruit and sweet spices.
About the Distillery ....
In May 2016, the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery's stills were fired up for the first time, beginning something unique in the area – the creation of Yorkshire's first ever single malt whisky. The distillery and it's founders are very connected to its home in Hunmanby on the Yorkshire Coast, with the barley used to make its whisky grown on its own family farm. The spirit is distilled in a pair of Forsyth stills, as well as a four-plate copper column still, while a variety of casks are used to mature the whisky. In October 2019, the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery released its first bottling of Filey Bay single malt.
