Description
Tamdhu 12 year old
This exceptional Speyside single malt Scotch whisky underwent a 12-year maturation process in ex-sherry casks, resulting in a distinguished Tamdhu expression characterized by an array of aromas including cinnamon rolls, orange confectionery, fresh oak, raisins, and subtle hints of mint. On the palate, discernible flavors of banana, raspberry jam, malty biscuits, and toasted oak are followed by nuanced layers of ground cinnamon and dried dark fruits.
Tamdhu Distillery
In 1897 a group of merchants got together to form a consortium and raised å£20 million pounds of today's money and design to open the most advanced distillery on the market. They would hire Charles C Doig who was a very prominent distillery architect and engineer of the time. He used the most used the most modern and advanced techniques of the time to create a consistent and high quality whisky. He positioned the water wheel beneath the floor and redesigned the kilns to waste and heat loss that was extracted by Archimedean Screw. The private rail way for Tamdhu would give it easy access to fast distribution. Tamdhu went through periods of prosper and loss from 1897 to 2011, but in 2010 the distillery would close. 2011 it was then purchased by Ian Macleod Distillers and in 2012 it was relaunched with a fantastic whisky.
