Summerhall Distillery
Summerhall Distillery was established by friends Marcus and Matt, driven by their ambition to craft the perfect gin and tonic. Notably, it was the first gin distillery to open in Edinburgh in over 150 years. Marcus brought with him a gin recipe inherited from his family, who had lived in India during the 1940s, laying the foundation for the distillery's storied history.
In 2018, they were producing oak-aged gins using casks sourced from the Highlands, Islands, and Lowlands of Scotland. Their quest to find casks that would infuse their gins with unique character and personality led them on a journey to whisky distilleries in the Highlands.
