Glen Scotia Double Cask 5cl

Glen Scotia Double Cask 5cl is the smaller bottling from this Campbeltown distillery. The Double Cask is characterized by its rich, full-bodied taste, with notes of caramel, toffee, and dried fruit, with a hint of spice and peat smoke. The sherry cask finish adds a distinct layer of dark fruit, nuts, and a subtle sweetness. The whisky is non chill filtered, which helps to retain all the flavors and aromas. Glen Scotia Double Cask is considered as a premium single malt scotch, it is best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to release its full potential.

Glen Scotia Distillery

The Glen Scotia distillery is located in Campbeltown, a small coastal town on the Kintyre Peninsula of Scotland. Its history dates back to 1832 when it was established by two local families, the Stewart brothers and the Galbraiths. Situated in a region once known as the "whisky capital of the world," Glen Scotia played a significant role in Campbeltown's illustrious whisky heritage.

Throughout its early years, Glen Scotia faced numerous challenges, including changes in ownership and the impact of economic downturns. However, the distillery persevered, maintaining its commitment to producing exceptional single malt Scotch whisky. It weathered the storms and became one of the last remaining distilleries in Campbeltown, a region that was once home to more than 30 distilleries.

Over time, Glen Scotia developed a reputation for its distinct and characterful whiskies. The proximity to the sea and the influence of the coastal climate contributed to the unique flavor profile that sets Glen Scotia apart. The whiskies often display maritime qualities, with hints of brine and coastal influence complementing the rich and complex flavors.

In recent years, Glen Scotia has experienced a revitalization under the ownership of the Loch Lomond Group. The distillery has undergone extensive renovations and improvements to modernize its operations while preserving its traditional methods. With renewed passion and investment, Glen Scotia continues to produce exceptional single malts that capture the essence of its Campbeltown heritage.
