Description

Ardnamurchan AD 10 year old

The new Ardnamurchan 10 Year Old marks an important milestone for the distillery, building on the success of its previous one-off 10-year-old release and now establishing itself as a regular addition to the range. It offers whisky enthusiasts a refined and consistent expression that reflects the distillery’s evolving style and expertise.

This carefully composed whisky is matured predominantly in ex-Bourbon barrels (95%), with a subtle yet influential contribution from ex-Sherry hogsheads (5%). The spirit itself is a balanced marriage of 52% unpeated and 48% peated whisky, delivering both sweetness and a gentle, coastal smokiness.

Bottled at 46.8% ABV, non-chill filtered, and presented in its natural colour, it retains its full depth of character. With just 16,380 bottles released worldwide, it remains a limited and highly desirable expression.

On the nose, it opens with notes of coconut, oat biscuits, and bright orange zest, layered with hints of sea air, soft bonfire smoke, and touches of strawberry sweetness and mint. The palate is rich and creamy, offering flavours of custard creams, vanilla wafer, brine, and earthy smoke. The finish is long, warming, and distinctly maritime, leaving a lingering impression of gentle smoke and coastal character.

Ardnamurchan Distillery

Owned by legendary independent bottler Adelphi this distillery has been producing spirit since 2014. The company decided to release the first official bottling until the spirit was ready.

Ardnamurchan Distillery was not just a place where whisky was made; it was an ode to tradition and craftsmanship. The distillery was constructed using locally sourced stones, and its design was inspired by the ancient ruins that dotted the Highland landscape.

As the first drops of whisky trickled from the copper stills, a sense of pride and satisfaction filled Alan's heart. He knew that his whisky would not just be a product; it would be a story in a bottle, a tale of Ardnamurchan's spirit and soul.

Word of the distillery's unique approach spread like wildfire. Whisky enthusiasts and curious travelers from all corners of the world embarked on a pilgrimage to Ardnamurchan to witness this modern-day alchemy firsthand.
