Description

Aberfeldy 21 year old Madeira Cask

Elevate your whisky experience to new heights with Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Madeira Cask Matured, a truly exceptional Scotch whisky that's been crafted with precision and aged to perfection in Madeira casks for a uniquely rich and indulgent flavor profile.

Aberfeldy is known for its distinctive honeyed sweetness, and the Madeira cask maturation adds an extra layer of complexity and depth to this already remarkable whisky. The Madeira casks, sourced from the renowned Portuguese wine region, impart rich flavors of dried fruits, spices, and oak, creating a whisky that's both luscious and refined.

The nose is a symphony of aromas, with notes of sweet honey, dried apricots, raisins, and toasted nuts that tantalize your senses. The palate is equally impressive, with a velvety smooth mouthfeel and flavors of caramel, toffee, cinnamon, and nutmeg that dance on your tongue, leading to a long and satisfying finish that's both warming and complex. As a limited edition release, Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Madeira Cask Matured is a true connoisseur's whisky, reserved for those who appreciate the finer things in life. The meticulous craftsmanship, attention to detail, and extended maturation make it a whisky that's truly exceptional, perfect for special occasions or moments of indulgence.

Aberfeldy Distillery

Aberfeldy distillery was opened in 1898 by the John Dewar and Sons company. It remained operational until 1917 when barley shortages forced it to close down. It reopened in 1919 and produced whisky intended for blends until the Second World War broke out.

During the war the distillery remained shut. After the war concluded and barley shortages were over, the demand for Aberfeldy whisky caused stock shortages. The whisky was laid for just 3 years as opposed to the usual 7 years.

Not much happened at the distillery for a couple of decades until 1972 when it was enlarged and four steam-heated stills were installed. Production continued and in 1999 a 12 year old single malt was released. A year later, a visitor centre was opened to the public.
