Aberfeldy 25 year old
Aberfeldy Distillery is celebrating its 125th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its long history of whisky production. Established in 1898, the distillery began crafting its renowned single malt whisky, and in honor of this occasion, it has released a special 25-Year-Old Single Malt. This exclusive bottling serves as a tribute to Aberfeldy's pioneering spirit and rich distilling heritage.
Matured for over two decades in the distillery's warehouse, this finely aged whisky has undergone a finishing process in Oloroso sherry casks, which enhances its rich, fruity character while imparting a subtle spiced note.
The whisky offers a complex aroma profile, with enticing scents of Highland honey, wild strawberries, and sun-ripened peaches, complemented by hints of cocoa powder, creamy caramel, and a warm cinnamon-spiced finish.
Aberfeldy Distillery
Aberfeldy distillery was opened in 1898 by the John Dewar and Sons company. It remained operational until 1917 when barley shortages forced it to close down. It reopened in 1919 and produced whisky intended for blends until the Second World War broke out.
During the war the distillery remained shut. After the war concluded and barley shortages were over, the demand for Aberfeldy whisky caused stock shortages. The whisky was laid for just 3 years as opposed to the usual 7 years.
Not much happened at the distillery for a couple of decades until 1972 when it was enlarged and four steam-heated stills were installed. Production continued and in 1999 a 12 year old single malt was released. A year later, a visitor centre was opened to the public.
To this day, Aberfeldy single malt whisky is the main component of the Dewar's blended Scotch.
