Benrinnes 15 year old Flora & Fauna

This 15-year-old Benrinnes whisky is a unique and intriguing expression, standing out as the only Speyside malt to undergo triple distillation, a method typically associated with Lowland malts or Irish whiskey. Despite this uncommon approach, Benrinnes delivers a much richer and more robust profile than those lighter styles, offering a depth of body and character that sets it apart. An impressive dram, it combines the smoothness of triple distillation with the bold flavors characteristic of Speyside whiskies.

Benrinnes Distillery

Benrinnes is a Speyside distillery located in Aberlour. The original distillery was founded in 1826 but was destroyed by a flood three years later. It was rebuilt at its current location and operated without major incidents. Like most distilleries in the 19th century, it went through various changes of ownership. When the distillery was damaged by a fire in 1896, it was refurbished and powered by electricity.

The distillery was again rebuilt in 1955 by John Dewar and Sons. Some eleven years later, the production capacity was doubled. In the 1970's the distillery adopted a unique triple distillation method. This distillation method was abandoned in 2007.

The flavours of Benrinnes derive from the distillery's usage of worm tubes to cool the neck of the stills, a short fermentation period of 60 hours and clear wort.
