Five festive drinks for Christmas Day

Five festive drinks for Christmas Day

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s only natural to be contemplating the festive drinks. Whether it be cosying up to the fire with a drink in hand after a long day with the family, or daytime festive drinks with the whole clan; Christmas tipples are a big part of it.

Pickering’s Gin

Created by founders, Marcus Pickering and Matthew Gammell, Pickering’s Gin is a great option to toast Christmas day. Boasting nine botanicals including juniper, coriander and fennel, these flavours are sure to compliment your Christmas palate. The options are endless when it comes to how you choose to serve this particular gin, but the gents at Pickering’s suggest, that because of its smoothness you can also enjoy it neat. Gin also goes with the festive treat, eggnog. Get experimental and try making gin and sherry eggnog. That’ll keep the in-laws happy…

Luckie Ales

Craft beers can be great festive drinks. Founded in 2008, Luckie Ales is a one-barrel microbrewery based in Fife, Scotland, that fits the bill for Christmas drinks. Whether you’re a fan of bitter, English ale or IPA, Luckie Ales has you covered. We stock eight different varieties, so there’s plenty of choice. At Jeffrey Street we that Luckie’s varieties should be enjoyed throughout the day. There’s so much to try! Famous for being an easy beer to drink, Luckie’s will be one of the best presents to open on Christmas Day.

Fyne Ales

Ranging from the now famous Jarl, to the Highlander and Avalanche; Fyne Ales are brewed with a philosophy of cramming huge amounts of flavour into relatively low-alcohol beer. We love that. Over Christmas we suggest turning your taste buds to their Holly Daze beer. As a dark amber ale, Holly Daze is full of caramel malts with fruit which boasts a slightly dry finish. The perfect accompaniment for your Christmas pudding.

Bruichladdich 11-Year-Old (60.4% Abv) bottled by Jeffrey Street

Bottled specially at Jeffrey St, the Bruichladdich 11-Year-Old should be enjoyed at the fire (if you have one) once the younglings (if you have any) have gone to bed. Ignore the ifs here… Just try it! Having been finished in a sherry cask, this particular Bruichladdich is not for the faint of heart and best enjoyed in a relaxed and chilled environment. The flavours this whisky release are incredible – packed full of rich fruits with vast amounts of Christmas cake and gateau. Why not enjoy it with a slice of yule log?

Glendronach 18-Year-Old

Glendronach 18-Year-Old is matured in ex-sherry casks and hits you with a sharp, sweet explosion, before calming and rewarding those who braved the initial hit with a warm finish. There’s hints of oak and tiramisu and this beast of an 18-year-old is unmissable. This is a classic single malt we would recommend enjoying at the end of the evening. Cigar in one hand (if that’s your thing), whisky in the other. Merry Christmas to that. Don’t leave it too late to secure your favourite Christmas Day tipple.
