Where to smoke cigars in Edinburgh?
Aug 09, 2018
Yes we know, the smoking ban in Scotland is a blanket ban. It has its advantages of course the ban has made pubs enjoyable places where a meal can be enjoyed without unwanted smoke spoiling it. However, unlike England, Germany, Switzerland and other European countries no cigar friendly venues are allowed in Scotland.
When the weather is good, we get asked the following question here at Jeffrey street: Where can I enjoy a good drink and a cigar in Edinburgh? While indoor smoking areas are not allowed, we found some comfortable, cosy and dry spots. These are the best venues in town where to enjoy a cigar and a good drink:
The Glasshouse Hotel
Situated next to the Omni centre, the rooftop terrace offers a stylish and elegant setting where cigars, fine whisky and cocktails can be enjoyed. The view overlooks Leith, Portobello and Calton Hill. We definitely recommend a classic negroni or an old fashioned with a Montecristo No. 4.

The Sheraton Hotel
Located close to Edinburgh's West End the smoking area is located at the front entrance of the hotel. The seating is comfortable and the drinks list is extensive. The next time you fancy a nice glass of champagne or a cheeky cognac, make sure you stop by The Sheraton.

Hotel Du Vin
This is probably the city's most famous smoking area. If wine is your thing, this place has an extensive wine list with wines from all over the world. After you enjoyed a stick or two you can even have a fine meal at the brasserie. The cigar bothy will keep you dry if it's raining and warm if it is cold.

Crowne Plaza Hotel (Royal Terrace)
This hotel has a newly renovated smoking area and its gardens are gorgeous. The gardens are a quiet and relaxing space where you can enjoy a cigar and a beer at ease.

Bellfield Brewery
Although a bit out of the way, this brewery has a great outdoor seating area with some garden heaters. The beer is among the freshest you will drink while in Edinburgh. The food offering rotates regularly to offer great variety.
