Aberlour Distillery
Aberlour distillery is located in the picturesque town of Aberlour, Strathspey. The current owners, Chivas Brothers Ltd (part of Pernod Ricard S.A), acquired this charming distillery, which dates back to 1879.
Sadly, a decade after its construction, Aberlour distillery fell victim to a common problem among distilleries at the time - a catastrophic fire. However, determined to carry on, it was rebuilt in 1898 and continued to produce its fine spirit without any inconvenience until the outbreak of the Second World War. During the war, strict restrictions were placed on distillation, prompting locals to sneakily take the wash from the site and distill it illegally near the Aberlour burn.
After undergoing refurbishment and expansion, the Pernod Ricard group acquired the distillery in 1974. And let's just say that since then, the spirit of Aberlour has only gotten better with age! Today, there are many enticing releases available, including the popular Aberlour 12 year old and the rich and bold A'Bunadh.
