Description
Benrinnes 9 year old Great Drams
This whisky boasts a rich and robust character, with a thick, creamy mouthfeel that results from the use of wormtubs in the distillation process, which reduce copper contact with the spirit. It was initially matured for over eight years in a second-fill Oloroso sherry cask, which imparted subtle complexity and depth. For the final nine months, it was finished in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez cask, enhancing its spiciness and infusing it with deep, dark winter fruit notes, creating a well-rounded and flavourful dram.

Benrinnes Distillery
Benrinnes is a Speyside distillery located in Aberlour. The original distillery was founded in 1826 but was destroyed by a flood three years later. It was rebuilt at its current location and operated without major incidents. Like most distilleries in the 19th century, it went through various changes of ownership. When the distillery was damaged by a fire in 1896, it was refurbished and powered by electricity.
The distillery was again rebuilt in 1955 by John Dewar and Sons. Some eleven years later, the production capacity was doubled. In the 1970's the distillery adopted a unique triple distillation method. This distillation method was abandoned in 2007.
The flavours of Benrinnes derive from the distillery's usage of worm tubes to cool the neck of the stills, a short fermentation period of 60 hours and clear wort.
