The Borders Distillery

Founded in 2018, Borders Distillery brought whisky production back to the Scottish Borders for the first time since 1837. Based in the restored building of a former power station in Hawick, the distillery produces Single Malt Whisky using locally grown barley and mineral-rich water, capturing the distinctive character of the Lowlands. With a focus on patience, craftsmanship and a strong sense of place, Borders Distillery is nurturing its own whisky as it matures in the cask. These first expressions mark the beginning of a new chapter for the region, helping to establish the Scottish Borders once again on Scotland’s whisky map.
