Lagg Single Malt Small Batch Manzanilla Cask

Produced in small batches at the Lagg Distillery on the southern tip of the Isle of Arran, this peated single malt showcases the distillery's distinctive smoky character. Distilled, matured and bottled on the island, it is finished in first-fill ex-Manzanilla sherry casks, adding layers of dry nuttiness, gentle salinity and subtle orchard fruit to the rich peat smoke. Bottled at its natural colour and without chill filtration, it offers an authentic expression of Lagg's bold island style.

Lagg Distillery

Lagg Distillery is located on the southern tip of the Isle of Arran, near the village of Lagg, where it looks out across the Firth of Clyde. Opened in 2019 by Isle of Arran Distillers Ltd., the distillery was built to showcase a very different side of Arran whisky. While its sister distillery at Lochranza is renowned for elegant, unpeated single malts, Lagg focuses exclusively on richly peated whisky, inspired by the island's historic distilling traditions.

The Lagg area has a long association with whisky production. During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, its remote location made it a hotspot for illicit distilling, with numerous hidden stills operating across the surrounding hills. An earlier legal distillery briefly operated here before closing in 1837, but the region's whisky-making heritage lived on long after its doors shut.

Construction of the modern distillery began in 2017, with a contemporary design that blends into the surrounding landscape through the use of a green roof and environmentally conscious architecture. Production commenced in the spring of 2019, and the distillery officially welcomed visitors later that year.
