This 17-year-old single malt from Caol Ila Distillery is a classic expression of Islay character, matured in a bourbon hogshead to allow the distillery’s distinctive coastal peat style to take centre stage.
The refill bourbon cask provides a gentle, complementary sweetness, enhancing rather than overpowering the spirit. On the nose, waves of soft bonfire smoke and coastal brine rise alongside lemon zest, green apple, and vanilla cream. Subtle notes of toasted oak and white pepper add depth without masking Caol Ila’s trademark freshness.
