Description
Spey 12 year old Brue Doree Cask Strength
Crafted in Speyside, this single malt began with an extended 120-hour fermentation followed by a carefully paced distillation. After spending 12 years maturing, it was given a finishing period in custom-made 400-litre French virgin oak casks sourced from Tonnellerie Quintessence. These specially prepared casks undergo a unique mist-toasting process that subtly unlocks the wood’s character, enhancing depth and complexity while maintaining balance. Spey Brume Dorée was released at its natural cask strength of 57.6% ABV.
Speyside Distillery
Spey distillery is located in Kingussie very close to Inverness. It is the southern most distillery in the Speyside region. The distillery was built in 1962 by the owner of a nearby grain whisky distillery. Works on the site lasted until 1987. The first drops of spirit were distilled in 1990.
Two small stills were installed, they had to be cut down to size and were sourced from the now defunct Lochside distillery. The distillery has a production capacity of some 500 thousand liters of alcohol per year. The Speyside Distillery company is the current owner of Spey after they purchased it in 2013.
The owners of the distillery sell in in different markets under different names. It is the base whisky for Mongolia's best selling blended Scotch: Yoko
