Spey Duae - Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2026
Released for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2026, this special bottling from Speyside Distillery showcases a unique pairing of cask influences under the name “Duae.” It combines two separately matured SPEY single malts to create a layered balance of sweetness and gentle peat smoke.
One component is a 7-year-old SPEY whisky finished in a Château Guiraud Sauternes wine cask, bringing rich honeyed fruit and refined sweetness. The second is a 12-year-old peated SPEY expression, adding depth, structure, and a soft smoky character. After their individual maturation, the whiskies were united for a final marrying period in the original Sauternes cask before being bottled at 50.2% ABV.
This is a strictly limited release of just 350 bottles, presented without chill filtration or added colouring to preserve its natural character.
Speyside Distillery
Spey distillery is located in Kingussie very close to Inverness. It is the southern most distillery in the Speyside region. The distillery was built in 1962 by the owner of a nearby grain whisky distillery. Works on the site lasted until 1987. The first drops of spirit were distilled in 1990.
Two small stills were installed, they had to be cut down to size and were sourced from the now defunct Lochside distillery. The distillery has a production capacity of some 500 thousand liters of alcohol per year. The Speyside Distillery company is the current owner of Spey after they purchased it in 2013.
The owners of the distillery sell in in different markets under different names. It is the base whisky for Mongolia's best selling blended Scotch: Yoko
