A unique Mannochmore single malt
Jan 07, 2023
Admit it, if you have been sipping whisky over the past few months or years, you will have a few favourites. It happens to every whisky enthusiast and we are no exception. We like our Lowland, Islay, Campbeltown (of course), Highland and Speyside drams. Some distilleries leave our palates wanting more, one such distillery in the Speyside is Mannochmore.
Over the years we have seen our fair share of Mannochmore whiskies, the often seen Flora and Fauna 12 year old, the 25 year old released in 2016 and a few independent bottlings.
Mannochmore
Mannochmore is a single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Mannochmore distillery, located in the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1971 and has a reputation for producing high-quality whisky with a distinctive character.
It has a rich, complex flavor profile: Mannochmore is known for its rich, full-bodied flavor, with notes of fruitcake, toffee, and caramel. It has a smooth, creamy texture and a long, warming finish. Some expressions we've tried had white chocolate, limoncello, dried apricots and merengue notes!
When we found out that the chaps at The Single Cask had a very limited run of 9 years old Mannochmore aged in Ruby Port octaves we decided to get our hands on it!
The octave yielded just 70 bottles at 54.6% ABV and offers a generous palate with plenty of brandy-soaked-raisins, cranberry sauce, bubble gum, California plum juice and winter spice aromas.
